Explore the wonders of the Modderfontein Reserve. Immerse yourself in the serene beauty of this park – a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. 

Whether you’re a seasoned hiker looking to explore the extensive trails or a bird enthusiast eager to visit the strategically placed bird hides, the reserve offers a variety of experiences to connect you with nature. 

The well-maintained paths invite both casual walkers and serious trekkers to discover the beauty of Modderfontein’s landscapes. 

Our hike this Sunday will be a moderate 7km hike on mostly flat terrain. Accessible and family-friendly, this is the perfect escape from the hustle of city life. 

Entry fee for hikers is R45 and our club fee an additional R20. Bring water, a hat and perhaps a rain jacket as we might have light showers on the route. Walking in light rain is a magical experience providing a fresh look at a different side of nature. 

We will meet at the main entrance from 08:00 and start walking at 08:30. The walk should take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. No need to book – just pitch up! You will find us at the entrance.

MEET:

Arrive at 08:00. We start hiking at 08:30.

REQUIREMENTS:

Good hiking shoes, hat, sun block, at least 2lt of water, a rain jacket, snacks if you need it. 

COFFEE

After the hike, we will go for coffee at the restaurant in the reserve (Dobbs House Restaurant). 

DIFFICULTY RATING

Moderate, relatively flat terrain.

ENTRANCE FEE:

R45 per adult hike visitors fee plus R 20 club fee payable at the meeting spot before the walk.

NO NO’S:

No radios, no pets. No claims against the club for loss/death or injury. Your participation is voluntary. Take care. No littering, we take only photographs and leave only fairy footprints!
