Hedianga Farm is in a predominantly rocky region comprising different challenging trails perfect for walking, hiking and mountain biking. It is situated on the Bronberg side of the Magaliesberg mountain in the eastern part of Pretoria, near Garsfontein. It is a great location to watch the sunset and take photographs.
The area comprises different ecological zones including trees, grasslands and quartzite ridges with numerous animal and bird species which also makes it a suitable place for bird watching. Walking dogs is permitted within the farm and some of its areas also allow for them to be let off the leash. Hedianga Farm is also believed to have been occupied by early hominids.
We will be doing the 10km yellow route, but there are also 15km and 5km options available. The hike itself is well demarcated and easy to follow. It is a challenging hike and ended up being closer to 11km than 10km. Some of the inclines are steep and rocky, so take your time when you hike to enjoy the overall experience.
Your entrance fee gives you access to the farm for the next 6 days as well in case you would like to go and explore some more.
Well behaved dogs are welcome at this venue, but if they kill any wildlife or birds, you will have to pay damages and your dog will be banned from the farm forever.
