Ideally situated for weekend getaways, only one hour from Johannesburg and 40 minutes from Pretoria, the reserve boasts a wide variety of antelope as well as giraffe, zebra and wildebeest and an abundance of birdlife.

Three hiking routes traversing rocky highveld grassland and bushveld of 3, 7 and 12 kms. We will be hiking the 12km route. Except for one or two hills, the trail is not too strenuous and winds through beautiful bush.

Remember to bring your meat, charcoal and drinks as we will have our customary braai and social in the lapa after the hike.

The nature reserve has affordable chalets and campsites available for those wanting to spend a quiet weekend away from the city. Please book this directly with the venue (Somabula Nature Reserve) and mention that you are with the Day Hikers.
